seriously, these pieces of software are better left abandoned.
macOS - Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux and BSD can do more than everything a mac can, there is no point in using macOS.
Rust - This is a foul creation of satan built to be the antithesis of minimalism and simplicity.
iOS - Phones are already terrible creations of the antichrist, iOS makes them worse.
systemd - Bloatware that injected age verification functionality to satisfy the glowies.
Minecraft - Everyone makes fun of Yandere Simulator for it's shitty code, have those people ever played modern Minecraft?
Social Media - Enjoy getting spied on with a bunch of miserable losers that only know how to quarrel with each other? Use a social media platform today!
IME/PSP - I remember when spyware was just on the software side, now it's embedded in your motherboard!
KDE, GNOME - At least KDE looks decent, the GNOME devs were definitely programmers first, artists second...
XFCE, LXQt - These aren't really lightweight despite "trying"
Linux - The Linux kernel is a bloated, proprietary and Rust infected mess.
Windows NT - The Mona Lisa of shitty software.
Discord - The finest chinesium in all the world!
Chromium - Have you ever wanted a usable web browser? It's likely that you use Chromium, that's why your browser sucks.
Steam - If you want to not play your games, just download your games through Steam.
Flatpak - Situation: There are now 99999999999999999 "universal" package managers.
Visual Studio Code - Enjoy those dumb looking colours on your code? You suck. Just use the standard text editor.
uutils - Imagine the GNU coreutils but shittier, apparently that is possible.
Redox - Y'know how Rust sucks? Why not make the worlds shittiest operating system with it while we're at it!
Unity - Okay, imagine this: a game development environment where it takes an hour to compile a tiny game.
While it is generally easy to switch to minimalist/freedom preserving alternatives, hardware is much different, it is much more difficult to get ethical hardware.
Here is a list of computers which can/will preserve your freedoms, while also being good quality and usable.
ThinkPad T60/X60 - Very good quality 32-bit computers for their time, can have GNUboot/Canoeboot installed via software flashing.
ThinkPad T400 - Decent mid-size laptop which supports Canoeboot/GNUboot, quad-core CPUs (through modding) and can have the IME/AMT completely removed.
ThinkPad X200 - Portable and reliable laptop that supports Canoeboot/GNUboot and fully removable IME/AMT.
ThinkPad T500/W500 - Desktop replacements of the GM45 era ThinkPads, these also support Canoeboot/GNUboot, quad-core CPUs and fully removable IME/AMT.
Dell Latitude e6400/XFR- Durable and good quality laptops that support Canoeboot/GNUboot via software flashing. Supports all 64-bit mobile core 2 duo CPUs.
Dell Optiplex 780 (MT/USFF) - Supports Canoeboot/GNUboot via software flashing, supports quad-core CPUs without hardware modding (MT only) and are reliable.
This is the kind of hardware normies/r-tards use.
anything from apple - You should know why.
modern ThinkPads - IME/AMT can't be fully removed, keyboards suck, repairability is worse and quality decreased.
HP laptops - Typically these are ugly looking abominations, and have terrible keyboards, along with IME/AMT and poor quality builds.
ASUS/ACER - Known for being terrible quality, along with awful keyboards, asinine design and quaranteed to brick due to motherboard failure
Any modern desktop - IME/PSP non-removable
modern smartphones - Intentionally made expensive and shitty to fuck specifically YOU over.
modern tablets - Same things with smartphones, except there is zero attempt to make these tablets preserve the users freedoms, and unnecessary cameras.
raspberry pi - Committed to being expensive and prevent you from preserving your freedoms with DRM built into firmware updates.
